MUSIC LAB-POLICIES
Cancellation Policy
All students are allowed one “free pass” (cancellation) per month. Any cancellations during a given month (beyond the one free pass) will be considered a lesson and will need to be paid for at your next lesson. Students who regularly take advantage of the one “free pass” policy may be dropped.
ALL cancellations must be made in writing, either by text, email or written note. If you do not report your cancellation in writing, you will be responsible for payment of that lesson.
Canceling the day of your lesson will not be granted a “free pass”. Cancellations made the day of your lesson will need to be paid for at your next lesson.
National and religious holidays (i.e. New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, etc.) are the exception.
If you must cancel a lesson and would like to reschedule, I will do my best to help accommodate you.
Conflict Dates
Any and all conflict dates must be submitted in writing either by text, email or handwritten notice.
Deposit
A deposit of $35 per student is due at your first music lesson. The deposit is refundable provided you give at least 2 weeks’ notice prior to your last lesson. In other words, if you should decide to end your music lessons, please provide at least 2 weeks’ notice.
For Parents Who Bring Their Child’s Siblings or Friends to Lessons
Please monitor your children and/or their guests while they are in my home. If possible, please bring some toys and/or activities from home to keep them entertained. There is a television on site that you are welcome to use.
Other Costs
-
Sheet Music Purchases-There will be occasions when you or your child would like to learn a piece and sheet music needs to be purchased. Parents and/or students are responsible for these costs.
-
Recitals-Recitals are generally held in the spring. Cost is $35 per student to participate. Cost covers venue rental, food, refreshments and materials.
Payment Methods
Lessons are to be paid before or on the day of your lesson. I accept the following forms of payment:
-
Cash (preferred)

PayPal, Venmo, Zelle

Rescheduling
If you are unable to attend a lesson please ask if you can reschedule, I may be able to reschedule you for a different day and time.
Sick Policy
Should you or your child have a mild, contagious illness (such as a cold or flu) please notify me in advance of your lesson. If you are well enough and would like to keep your scheduled lesson then we will both wear masks.
Summer Months
Beginning July 1st and through Labor Day, students will not be expected to attend regular weekly lessons. In other words, I will not charge students for missed lessons unless they are same day cancellations. Should you need to change days and/or times or reschedule, my schedule will be much more flexible over the summer and I can accommodate you most days and times of the week. If you are planning on taking an extended break (more than 2 consecutive weeks) during the months of July and August please provide a 2 week notification.
Supplies & Materials
-
One Inch 3-ring binder with divider tabs.
-
Guitar and ukulele students must bring their own instruments.
Tardiness
If you are going to be late for a lesson, please notify me as soon as you can. If I have no other students after you, we can still have a full half hour lesson. However, should I have a student immediately after you, your lesson may be abbreviated.
Termination of Lessons
As stated in the deposit section, “if you should decide to end your music lessons, please provide at least 2 weeks notice.” So, if at all possible, the protocol is to provide at least 2 weeks notice if you will be ending classes.
